McDonald’s to trial McPlant plant-based burger in the U.S.
McDonald’s is looking to expand its menu to include purely plant-based options, and began trialing its first such offering, the PLT, in Europe and Canada in 2019.

The fast food giant has already tested a plant-based burger in Canada and may eventually add faux meat breakfast sandwiches and mock chicken to the menu. McPlant will start popping up on McDonald’s menus in 2021.
The fast-food chain expects to remove over 3,000 metric tons of plastic from the business from 2021 by abolishing plastic happy meal toys.
McDonald’s and Beyond Meat have teamed up to bring a new plant-based burger to North America. Announced in September, McDonald’s is conducting a 12-week test of their new plant-based burger called the P.L.T.
Nearly a fifth of Fortune Global 500 companies have committed to set science-based targets, including this year alone big names such as McDonald’s, IKEA, and AB InBev.
